The Union “Century 21st” continues to conduct the meetings in the eparchies of Georgian Orthodox Church. On October 26, the meeting with clergymen of Dmanisi and Agarak-Tashiri Eparchy at the conference hall of Dmanisi Municipality was held. Apart from the clergymen, pedagogues, representatives of local self-government and parish attended the meeting. Archil Karaulashvili, Deputy State Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Giorgi Paresashvili, Deputy Director of Information Center on NATO and Paata Gachechiladze, Program Director of the Union “Century 21st” made speeches at the meeting.
Archil Karaulashvili, Deputy State Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration reviewed the ongoing process of European integration of Georgia, its economic and social importance for the country and its population. Giorgi Paresashvili, Deputy Director of Information Center on NATO spoke on certain important issues of Eurointegration and emphasized existing problems.
Paata Gachechiladze, Program Director of the Union “Century 21st” made the comprehensive speech, which involved general information and statistical data on EU, general situation in EU in terms of religion, models of relationship of the state and the church (religious groups) existing in the EU countries and the status of Orthodox Church in these countries. The speeches was followed by the discussion while the speakers answered the questions of participants. Attention was attached to certain important issues, such as funding of religious groups, religious education and religion in public schools, position of clergymen in Dmanisi municipality, the region characterized with heavy geographic and climatic conditions. Participants were traditionally offered to submit questions on the issues of their interest to the Union “Century 21st”to provide respective information and ensure consultations for them.
Giorgi, Bishop of Marneuli and Hujabi Eparchy, hosted the Union “Century 21st” in Marneuli on October 27. Apart from the clergymen, the meeting was attended by local parish and representatives of local agencies.
Giorgi Pareshashvili and Paata Gachechiladze made speeches at the meeting, which lasted for quite a long time. After the speech by Paata Gachechiladze, discussion dealt with the analyses of religion related legislation of Georgia and some EU countries, registration of religious groups, issue of Islam and policy, certain legal acts adopted by the former government and the steps taken in the field of religion.
Publications of the Union Century 21st”, such as “The State and the Church in the EU Countries” (both hard copies and electronic versions) and “Orthodox Church in the EU Countries” were distributed among the participants at both meetings.

The meetings are the part of the project, which is implemented by the Union “Century 21st”under the support of EU.
