Freedom of Religion and Belief – Support to Human Rights Culture and Democracy in Georgia.

The project aimed to support the cooperation among various religious unions being the members of the Interreligious Council and contribute to resolution of the problems faced by them.

Joint commission composed of representatives of Georgian Orthodox Church and Evangelic-Lutheran Church was formed.

Joint commission in participation of representatives of Georgian Patriarchy, Armenian Apostolic Church and experts was created at the Ministry of Culture of Georgia.

Several meetings between representatives of Georgian Patriarchy, Catholic Church, Armenian Apostolic Church, Jewish Community and Yazidi Community were conducted.

Four booklets were prepared/translated and published:

  • OSCE 2004 recommendations for the analyses of legislation in the field of the freedom of religion and faith;
  • OSCE 1999 analyses of the freedom of religion and faith: laws affecting the structure of religious unions;
  • International legal acts in the field of human rights – Book I;
  • International legal acts in the field of human rights – Book II.

All above activities were carried out with the support of the British Embassy in Georgia.
